Me: omg, ie 6 makes me want to cry
paul: i thought we werent fixing for it yet
Me: I know but
Me:I wanted to know how bad it was
Me: ;_; whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy can't everyone just switch to 7
Me: Paul i think our efforts has developers would be much more helpful to the community if we stopped making websites and just developed a really horrible virus that only effects IE6
paul: i fully support that decision

I don't know what this virus will do... but I think before it does it, it should lock up and force the person who uses IE6 to watch 2 girls, 1 cup.

Note to self: Get this

Love soooo much. <3

Note to people and people who know people: The grid's asset server has been UBER shitty the last couple days. Be careful when rezzing stuff. I almost lost someone's giftcard last night.

Also, giftcards aren't like checks. I'm not the bank of Gritty Kitty. Don't ask me for "just the money." O_o Ask your friend who gave you the card for money next time.

Gumbercules? I love that guy!

I'm playing with my Zoidberg action figure (see previous post) because he was lost in my bag and I forgot I had him. I know I'm like a child. He's like gumby, rubbery with bendy insides.

And in my cube I'm making him dance around saying "Gumbercules?? I love that guy." and "woop woop woop woop."

Today is a productive work day.

What's in my bag!!!!

Bill got me a surprise present cause he knew I was kinda bummed about not getting any like.. fun presents for Xmas. So on friday he gave me a digital camera! It's like the best thing ever. It's red and little and I took like a billion pictures of my cat Poe.

So anyway, any excuse to use the camera. The fashion feed has a "show us what's in your purse/bag" meme.

Here is what's in my bag from left to right:
  • scarf
  • mimobot USB thumb drive. I think that one is called RayD8. I have a few of them.
  • work keys, 2 keychains, the key to my laptop, the key to the building, 1 USB thumb drive
  • 500 gig external harddrive
  • 2 folded up pieces of paper, one is a pass to see a pre-release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and one is a print out of my first review at work where Phil wrote a poem about how awesome I am.
  • Blistex
  • Spare headphones (the shitty pair. I have a better pair I normally use, but those are just in case I forget ones.)
  • Zoidberg
  • watch
  • wire bracelet that is pinchy
  • 2 plastic things that came with a Gary Baseman toy I have on my desk at work
  • One hair elastic and one elastic headband
  • one coupon for free starbucks I'm scared to use.
  • One raving rabbid vinyl toy in maids outfit
  • Movie ticket: Let the Right One In
  • 2 pens, one mechanical pencil
  • My shitty work laptop that is a huge piece of shit, and only 13" monitor. They expect me to do design and coding on it. Boo.
  • 2 Ledbetter qees on um.. tokidoki messenger bag. I usually use my gasmask bag, but it smells funny from gym clothes and I'm letting it air out
  • one receipt for a medical bill from when I was sick this summer
  • Extended warranty for my PS3 from Best Buy

Merry Christmas!

Yesterday was pretty sweet. I did not get hosed during the yankee swap as I did last year when I got the sweet rocking chair reindeer that sings when you press his paw. This year I picked 3rd to last and it was a hard choice between what looked like a gallon of Captain Morgan's and $40 of itunes cards.

I got the iTunes. I wish someone got me emusic credits like last year though, cause I went through their 100 best albums of 2008 last night and I want like 40 of them. Most of them are post rock, but I DL'd the 5 that I liked that weren't post rock for now. I did get some credits for Amazon MP3s, which I looked at this morning, and the music it suggested to me was so spot on that I'm convinced they have spyware connected to my machine. It's kinda creepy.

We exchanged presents last night after we got home. If I haven't mentioned it, I told B I was getting him something pretty huge, and he responded "a piano?" Because he's a smartass. So I said yes, I'm getting you a baby grand. And he said "if you loved me you'd get me a proper grand piano."

What I was really getting him was an iPhone. But since he's such a smartass, I went on ebay and purchased a toy baby grand electronic piano. It looks like what Schroder uses in the Peanuts. It came and I wrapped it and everytime B looked at the bag he's like what's in there? And I'd say "it's your piano" and he'd be like "hehehehe."

Last night he was very surprised to see he actually got a piano. I waited until he opened everthing and started playing with it before I gave him the iPhone gift card.

I got everything on my previously posted list, minus new mustache glasses. Tea press, rice cooker, Saints Row 2 (for PS3 instead of Xbox360, but we are going to exchange it tomorrow) and my surprise gift which is like a counter grill, but it's also a skillet and has detachable plates. It should be easier to clean than my George Forman which is like, a beast.

My dad got me a GPS for my car. I haven't used it yet because people driving around now are fooking crazy so I don't want to go far from the house.

I don't really understand how my tea press works yet. I wish I had loose tea to use it with, but Bill says I can just rip open my tea bags.
Ok that's my pre-christmas day summary. I'm going back to bed for another hour before we have to get ready to go out again.

8-Bit Jesus

What's better than your beloved NES game music turned into xmas carols?

I dunno.. lots of stuff.
But this is still pretty damn awesome. Download it here.

Happy Holidays

May none of your family members kill each other this holiday season.

I'm spending the holidays with Bill's family, and they are like a freakish TV family from the 60s. Everyone is nice to each other. It's bizarre.

Musicians who put 2 minutes of loud screeching feedback at the end of their songs can suck a bag of dicks.

I'm looking at you Deathcab for Cutie... and I'm shaking my head in disapproval.

HAIR: Hoke-troika

I based this hair on pictures of Disembodied Hand's RL handsome self. He gave me a bunch of reference pictures and now my skybox looks like I'm stalking him.

This is plain old non scripted hair. Nice and messy too. I already have a hair called Disembodied, so I named this one after his fancy man mustache, which is called a Hoke-troika according to this poster on the internet about beards.

Now it's time for me to go all single white female on Dis. \o/ yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Gritty Bucks FAQ

How do Gritty Bucks work?

You purchase the gift card from me, it's NO COPY, Transfer.

Pass it to the person you'd like to gift it to. They will follow the directions, fill out a notecard contained within the gift card with their NAME and the items they would like with the colors and prices of the items they would like. They then pass the Gritty Bucks PRIM that contains their notecarded list inside & my script, back to me.

If I don't get the scripted prim that looks like Gritty Bucks, I'm not fullfilling the order. Passing me just the full perm note card contained within does not = you owning a gift card. I tested passing these with my alt and my friends and I know that what I'm asking can be done and that it's easy.

So again:
TO REDEEM THE GIFT CARD, YOU MUST PASS THE GRITTY BUCKS PRIM WITH THE SCRIPT AND YOUR SHOPPING LIST TO ME. It's not rocket science. It's something everyone over the age of 18 should be able to handle.

I'm not being mean. I'm just saying, don't even bother to scam me. I filled my scammer quota this month when the transaction history was down last week. Just pass me back the scripted prim.

Update: I will be taking down the Gritty Bucks this weekend. I will full fill all orders from those that were bought already.

I didn't make these for a get rich quick scheme, I made them so people could give my copy - no transfer items like hair to other people during the holidays. God I hope I only sold like 10. *head desk*

BTW, anyone who passed these to uh, lets say "challenged" people, no Noam love!!! >:O

Further update: I sold 17. Only one was for $1000. So I'm IMing that chick tonight to ask what the hell is up with this guy IMing me about his $1k gift card.

Where u at?!1

I get to build and design the 404 and other broken site pages for the project I'm working on. We want to go along the lines of fail whale and less "404: blah blah text."
Paul says to remember that if they are done well, they will be the official design that is kept when we launch the site.

My brain says "be professional! this is a great portfolio piece," but my guts say "LOLCAT."

Then my brain starts singing "hamster on a piano eating a popcorn" and I'm pretty much mentally done for the day.

I love zombies

I think I'm coming down with either the flu of a case of the "I don't want to work no more and just want to watch horror movies" because I'm not feeling that productive. Last night I did the Locos Pocos xmas hunt and Bill rented the Zohan movie with Adam Sandler. Guess what? Zohan was terrible. Stop being so shocked.

Tonight I'm either going to bust my ass to make 2 hairs that I really really really want to wear in game, or I'm going to watch Cube 2 on fearNet even though I have never seen the first one.

Improper use of "Pants on the hedgehog"

Coworker: "Yeah the client is asking us for pants on the hedgehog"
Me: "I thought that their site was down and they wanted it to be up"
Coworker: "Well yeah..."
Me: "Um.. as a web developement company, you'd kinda think that the site being up would be part of the service we offer...."
Coworker: "I see your point, but this still interupts me from watching cat videos on youtube for the rest of the day."

I hate working with west coast clients

SO I get out of here at 6pm and it will take me 1hr 30 mins to get home, which means 7:30. I have to go to the store to buy stuff to make dinner and then make it, and by the time it's done it's 9pm.

I hate this so much.

Is there a blog feed out there for SL that doesn't have naked fat lady avatars on it so that I might read it when I'm rebuilding my dev code at work?

I'm running out of prims in Koreshan. I have to start thoroughly kissing Chicanery's butt (which I will), but as a back up I need to start looking for something a little bit... uh... bigger.

15000 prims bigger.

I really don't want to own a sim. Monthly teir is like $300 a month, and to buy a sim will cost me $1k USD. That means for the first year I will pay $4600 USD on something that is not tangible, and more often than not is the reason I get heartburn and migranes.

The only way I can talk myself into this is if I find a really cheap sim to buy from someone. I fail at buying land. If anyone has heard of a friend of a friend wanting to get rid of their full or OS for cheap, could you please ask them to IM me?

You'll have to pry my rotting clinging corpse away from Koreshan. If I did get a sim, it would be butted up against Koreshan. Possibly in the spot of ocean behind my shop now.

There is always the case that I can mooch more prims out of Kore and not have to worry about this. But I have less than 500 prims left and that's like... 9 hair vendors. Boo.

Nevermind I talked myself out of it.

HAIR (+hat): Comrad

This hat is scripted with 16 textures. 5 are camo, 11 are corduroy. Um... yep. I'm so tired. I've been working on these textures all day.

Buy it alone? This is resize scripted and mod. I find that resize scripts are awesome.

Hanukkah Lights @ Mainstore

They are Mod Copy, no trans. You can mod them to change the color or glow or bright or light or size of whatever the heck else you'd like :3

They are hanging up in my store, just buy a copy.

Feedback requested

I can not script all my vendors with that gift card stuff and not kill our shitty class 4 sim.

But I realize everyone wants gift cards for the holidays.

I talked to Hya and she said she makes custom ones. They are no copy & trans. You have to use the notecard inside the card to write down the item name, color and price which you'd like and then send it back, also write your own name on it just to be safe. It has to all be set with me as the original creator. Then after filling it out, you send it back to me and I full fill the order.

I could do like $500, $1000 or $5000 (gah that's so much.)

Do you guys think this is an ok way to deal with gift cards? I can't do the scripted ones at all.

$L770 + in upload fees for this. OMG. 11 color options, scripted to change colors and to resize.

Black Winter Vest

sculpted and only fits dudes. I have to sculpt and texture a female version which would take forever so sorry ladies :P neener neener. Now yall know how I feel about not being able to wear the awesome poncho from barerose. BOO.

Saturday, December 06, 2008

I've attempted to make this hat hair 2 times before this weekend and failed miserably cause the hat came out like a blobby blobbasaurus with stripes. This last attempt I was very happy with. And the texturing also came out pretty nice.
You can pick this up at my main store in Koreshan.

An assortment of hoodies

6 colors, plain. No text or anything. I made these for myself cause I love bright colors. You can find these at my main store in Koreshan.

Uh kaaaay

Don't file DMCA's with SLX when you find your stuff on there. File them with Linden Labs.

"DMCA notifications and counter-notifications sent to Virtuatrade are real-world legal notices and will be treated as such. Copies of these documents will be sent to participants or third parties as required by law. The Xstreet SL Privacy Policy specifically states that your personal information may be disclosed in connection with these notices."

They send the crazy people whom you file against your personal information.

Best. Agency. Commercial. Ever.

Never has one commercial so perfectly summed up what my job is like.
I'm the nerd at the computer who is saying "Do you know how long that would take?!!!"

Evan: you know - "pants on the hedgehog" could well become the new catchphrase for whatever crap the client throws at us
me: Dave and I are testing it out
Dave: "yeah they want us to put pants on the hedgehog"
Me: "Reskin community?!! Why that's pants on the hedgehog!"

Me: Aw, is your client telling you to put pants on the hedgehog?

Jen: Kevin wants more pants.

DMCA: Online fax those bitches!

Staples charges $1 per page for faxing out of state. This sucks giant balls when I fax stuff because my DMCAs tend to be like 10 pages long. I usually report more than one person when I send them.

So I tried a free online fax service on Sunday and I've been waiting to see if it actually worked. I got the Removal Team's email today that they received it.

So for everyone who has to send in DMCAs, if you make your file a PDF, you can online fax it using:

Please remember that you have to sign your DMCAs. I just signed it electronically cause I have a tablet.

This is great because if it works fine, I can fax the DMCAs the day I write them out. It also kinda sucks cause it hajavascript:void(0)ppens every other day.

UPDATE: IT WORKS. They received and removed my stuff from the one I sent before I wrote this blog entry.

Holiday Bondage

Again, another thing I made that I'm almost to proud of for stupid reasons. I made the animation to make you stiff and i wrote the animate on attach script and made it so when you TP it doesn't break. Hoho. Slowly I will conquer the world. \o/
This has a demo, please try it. The lights fit Fade and I but we are tiny tiny people.
